We are hosting a beacon to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day on Thursday 8th May as one of around 1000 beacons to be lit across the country at 9.30pm.
It will be quite low-key, but villagers are very welcome to join us—and to bring their own food, drink, and entertainment—to celebrate the Allied victory in WW2 and the 80 years of peace won by their sacrifice. The beacon will be built in the last field on the right before the Ridgeway as you travel towards Aldbourne from Ogbourne St George. It is a grass field with plenty of space for parking, picnicking, sundowners, etc.
Please feel free to arrive at any time from 8.30pm. We will light the beacon at around 9.30pm.
